Cider is an alcoholic beverage that can be obtained from complete or partial fermentation of the juice of fresh apples or the reconstituted juice of concentrate made from the juice of apple. Instead of apples, pears and other fruit flavors are also used for some ciders. The cider generally has an alcohol content within the range of 1.2% to less than 8.5% by volume. There are also brands from the USA and Canada that even go up to 12%. It represents less than 1% of the total alcoholic beverages market. It is a very popular drink in the European market, especially the United Kingdom and Germany. There are different techniques of fermentation in various countries for making cider.

A surge in demand for gluten-free drinks and a rise in preference for low alcoholic beverages is expected to boost the growth of the global cider market during the forecast period. The availability of a wide variety of flavors for making cider is offering an ample amount of opportunities to the manufacturers in the coming years.
